Regional Privacy and Consumer Rights

Your privacy and consumer rights depend on where you live and which law applies to the information or transaction. This supplement explains regional differences and how to ask for help. It does not limit any mandatory right that applies to you.

Where Law No. 6698 applies, Article 11 provides rights including learning whether data is processed, obtaining information, understanding purposes and use, knowing domestic/foreign recipients, requesting correction or deletion where conditions are met, notification of relevant actions to recipients, objecting to an adverse result based exclusively on automated analysis and claiming compensation for unlawful processing.

An application to the controller is handled under the applicable procedure and generally within the statutory 30-day maximum; complaint procedures and time limits have separate rules. A privacy notice is information, not a blanket consent form. Routine foreign processing requires the appropriate Article 9 mechanism; ticking a general consent box does not establish it.

  • KVKK international transfers

02European Economic Area and United Kingdom

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, rights can include access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, together with withdrawal of consent and a complaint to a supervisory authority. The usual response period is one month; a lawful extension requires the applicable conditions and notice. Not every right applies to every legal ground or record.

Where European or UK data-protection law applies, you may request information about international transfers and the safeguards relevant to your data through the privacy contact. Mandatory digital-content and consumer remedies remain available; a test version or a general choice-of-law clause does not remove them.

03United States and California

State privacy laws have different applicability thresholds, exemptions, rights and appeal procedures. Where a law applies, qualifying requests may include access, deletion, correction, portability and opt-out of covered sale, sharing, targeted advertising or profiling. A covered business must honor applicable authorized-agent and preference-signal requirements; no threshold exemption is asserted without checking the facts.

Remote error and usage reports are off by default and are sent only if you enable Error and usage reports in Settings; you can turn them off at any time. Editions with advertising use the separate advertising privacy choices described in the Privacy Policy. Whether a particular advertising activity counts as sale, sharing or targeted advertising depends on the applicable law and processing; the required opt-outs and rights must be honored where that law applies. A browser Do Not Track signal does not replace the app’s privacy choices.

US children's privacy requirements can apply to child-directed services or knowing collection from children under 13. A written '13+' label does not replace the actual audience assessment, required parental process or restrictions on child data.

  • California Privacy Protection Agency
  • FTC children's privacy guidance

04Brazil

Where the LGPD applies, rights can include confirmation, access, correction, anonymization/blocking/deletion of unnecessary or unlawfully processed data, portability subject to regulation, information about sharing, information about consent consequences and revocation. A full access statement's statutory period is not a universal deadline for every type of request.

You may use the privacy contact for rights requests, information about international transfers or concerns about a child's or adolescent's information. Brazilian child and adolescent protections and any mandatory language or representation requirements remain applicable where their conditions are met.

  • LGPD official law
  • Brazil's digital child-protection law

05Canada and Québec

Applicable Canadian privacy law can provide meaningful consent, access, correction, accountability and complaint protections. A foreign processing provider does not remove the operator's responsibility for an arrangement it controls. Québec may require a privacy impact assessment and written agreement before information is communicated outside Québec.

Where Québec's language rules apply to a standard-form agreement, you retain the language rights they provide, including any right to receive the French version before choosing another language. Availability of English or Turkish does not require you to waive a legally protected language choice.

  • Canadian privacy law guidance
  • Québec contract language guidance

06Australia

Where the Privacy Act and Australian Privacy Principles apply, you may ask about overseas disclosure, request access or correction, and raise a privacy complaint. Their application depends on the organisation and processing concerned; consumer guarantees have separate rules.

Australian consumer guarantees are a separate matter. Nothing in these terms excludes guarantees or remedies that cannot legally be excluded, including for a service supplied by an overseas business to Australian consumers where Australian law applies.

  • OAIC small-business coverage
  • ACCC consumer guarantees

07Japan and South Korea

Where Japan's APPI applies, the controller's identity, purposes, retained-data procedures and international-recipient safeguards must reflect the real service. Overseas-transfer consent, where used, can require destination-country and protection information; a generic unlimited transfer statement is insufficient.

Where South Korea's PIPA applies, you have the disclosures and choices required for collection, retention, entrusted processing, third-party provision and overseas transfers. Where legally required, processing information about a child under 14 requires the legal representative's consent. Contact the privacy address for a request concerning these protections.

08Other markets and changing requirements

Other countries may impose additional privacy, consumer, localization, accessibility, commercial-registration, tax, contact, child-safety or distribution requirements. A regional list is not exhaustive. Requirements can take effect in stages, so a law's publication date is not always the date every obligation applies.

Contact the privacy or support address for the issue you need help with. If your country is not listed here, that does not remove the mandatory rights that apply to you. Required local protections prevail over any conflicting general wording.
